Day 9.

I got a puff and a half done today. Although I still don't know how. The picture shows them with the purple-green ones, on my computer keyboard.

The new yarn isn't quite as soft as the purple-green. But I love the colors. They're a deep, rich, dark orange, with grey and brighter oranges sprinkled throughout. They're very.... October.

See, I categorize almost everything by season, if not by month. This isn't really a novel idea. People have done this for eons. We have different decor for each season, special foods. But I do it with everything. Not just iconic colors, but all of them. Meals. Music, especially. Nearly everything.

I've been listening to this awesome list of Indie Christmas music, which includes this awesome song by Regina Spektor -- "December". It's a beautiful song. Gorgeous. It's resistance, strength, standing your ground. I love it.

As I was knitting, the song sounded so very autumnal. But it's also very wintery, and specifically references winter. This may be the most confused I have ever been about the season to which something belongs.

In any case, give it a listen. It may be an odd inspiration for healing, but the strength in those lyrics is just working for me tonight.

"We don't believe in you and your wrecking crew."

I finally figured out exactly what I'm looking for the colors in my quilt. I'm going to use mostly yellows and greys (with maybe a couple of blues in there), with bits of warm colors (like the oranges you saw today, and some reds, and maybe some pinks if I find some in the Tennessee stash -- more about that later) and one or two odd balls, like the purples and greens. I might try to work on putting in a couple of funky little duplicate-stitch patterns to make pretty pictures, too, like creating one based on the pattern in this Bird hearts Bear post for the rabbit pattern! Have I mentioned just how much I love our little snuggle bunny?

Anyway, there you have a sneak peek into my brainthoughts and my plans. Let's see what happens, shall we....!
